it's a 1993 v6 oldsmobile cutlass ciera that we got from an online auction. it would not start so we replaced the battery then had brake work done and changed the oil. it was working fine then i smelled something burning, the car started vibrating i turned it off (but it was not in park which i switched the gear after it was off) when I went to restart the car it would not start it cranks but the starter lights (aribag, oil, etc and check engine soon lights come on and it won't go over). the lights come on fine and the previous owner did some of his own wiring for instance there are map lights which never go off and has black tape around it

Greetings! U could have a bad fuel pump. I would rec to check fuel pressure. Fuel injected cars are very fuel pressure sensitive. Fuel pressure is very important and must be within specifications! But if the pressure is low, it does not mean the pump is bad. A plugged fuel filter, a pinched line, and low voltage at the pump can contribute to low fuel pressure. Both must be checked before replacing the pump. U can get a fuel pressure gauge at a local auto parts store for cheap. Good luck!
