No there should be a point close to in line with pulley to attach rachet/wrench to. Then rotate tensioner up to take tension off the belt. I have tried to find a picture that shows the other side of tensioner but I have not found one as of yet.
No special tools required just be sure to disconnect battery and watch when removing nut from output stud. They have a tendicy to spin the stud in the housing and breaking the terminal of end of wire. When disconnecting battery you will need to relearn Idle with out a scan tool you will need to take it out and run it for 15 minutes at highway speed. Be aware that till Idle is relearned it my die when coming to a stop.
