Sent to Car Experts July 13 08:45 PM

My 2001 Oldsmobile ran out of gas and now the battery is completely dead. Tried to get a jump multiple times but the engine will not "turn." Should I get a new battery or is it the fuel pump? (the car has plenty of gas now)

Optional Information:
2001 Oldsmobile aurora 3.5

Already Tried:
Giving it a jump Putting 5 gallons of gas in the car

Hi this is what I would do.

1. Replace battery it sound as if this one has had it if not then have it slow charged then have some one at your locial part store do a load test on it to see if its any good.

2. After you clean battery cable ends and install new battery you should be able to turn it over pretty good it does not start after you turn it over for a few seconds to pump the fuel up you may have to use a little starting fluid you would need to remove the air breather an spray a few shots down the throttel body then slip the air breather back on and try to start car you should do this once or twice if still no start get back with me Thanks,

Al
