I have 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage S Coupe. It just started to overheat today and engine stalled, once cooled down it restarted okay. The belts are good, no hose leaks apparently. Upon restart I noticed fan(s) were not running. Thermostat or water pump what's your take to find what is causing overheat? Thanks!!

Well it could be either!

But if the fans are not coming on, there is a big problem!

Reply to amedee's Post: how long should it take for these fans to come on? I just restarte engine after cooldown let it run 20 minutes and it never overheated again yet

Well it depends on how quick your engine heats up!

Make sure the cooling system is full and let your car idle.

when its start to "overheat" go down by the fan wires and make sure there is voltage. If there is, and th fan is not coming on, then it is bad and will need to be replaced!
