1997 Mitsubishi Diamonte, 3.5L engine, auto. trans. I unhooked the positive battery cable (without thinking!), noticed a small spark. Cleaned the throttlebody, put it all back together. Now everything is acting goofy. Cannot get the starter to turn over, headlights are wonky, etc. Could I have cooked the ECU when I stupidly unhooked the positive battery cable?

Hello

Let's try disconnecting the Negative cable first, then disconnect your Positive cable. Wait! at least 5 minutes.

Clean the terminals and posts.

Re-connect Positive first, then re-connect negative cable. Make sure the connections are tight. Hopefully, the computer will reset itself, if not it is posiible that some damage may have occurred. Based on your description I don't think so.

When you do this make sure everything is OFF!

Dan

Hello

Maybe we just missed each other online. The people on this site work very hard to give a reasonable response and help when you need it. Our ratings are affected when you don't reply or request further help. I took the time to evaluate your question and answer, please respond with an Acceptance.

A regular repair facility gets a minimum of $70.00 an hour today with no repair advice, just a bill and sometimes they don't even get the job done right. We supply good advice for very little and most of the time the Experts are right on target.

We give you good advice on how to approach your repair needs with the shops performing the work so you have a better understanding up front.

Thank You!

Dan
