Question

98 mitsubishi eclipse sh*tting?

Sent to Car Experts May 26, 2005 6:32 p.m.

Hi, I have a 98 mitsubishi eclipse, and my problem is very weird. first of all let me say that although i think i have a good basic knowledge of cars im not sure about this one. well, sometimes after driving to and from work, which is about 40 min. and near the end of the drive(most of the time)when i come to a stop at a light or something, right before it is an exact stop the car will jerk/jump roughly and the rpm will drop for a sec and then it will shift gears very high almost 4000 rpm which it usually shifts around 3000 rpm (excuse me its an automatic)and this is ongoing all the way to work and home until i turn it off and leave it for a while. in the morning i let it warm up pretty good and i dont run it hard but it still manages to do it frequently. the tranny fluid is still good, its not fresh but its still good and im probably going to change it out just to do it. it seems people that i have spoken to dont have a clue about this and of course it wont do it when i take it into the autoshop.i really dont know what to think and im not knowledgable enough to go to a shop and just repeat other peoples problems and pretend that i know the stuff. so thank u for your time and i hope u have heard of this before. i just hope the tranny is done. if there is anything else i can tell you about the problem to help please just let me know      thank u
