I have a 2002 Mercury Sable. Just recently the car started jumping and misfiring in cylinders 5 and 6. I took the car to my mechanic and he replaced the firing system in the car: coil pack, wires, and plugs. I just had a tune up in late July of this year. The car is still jumping/skipping. What is causing this and what is needed to repair. I am having trouble accelerating to a faster speed on the busy highways.

Optional Information:

Already Tried:
Two tune ups in less then 3 months. Fuel Pressure is ok checked by Ford Tech. Diagnostic with computer shows misfire in cylinders 5 and 6

Hi,

First, have the injectors in cyl #5 & 6 checked. If they are not pulsing the fuel correctly or at all, or if they are leaking fuel into cyl, they will cause misfire issue.

Second, If injectors check out ok, have a compression check done on the cylinders. Loss of compression, due to sticking valves(carbon buildup) will cause misfire as well. If compression is down in those two cylinders, have a fuel induction service done that will clean carbon deposits on valves.
