I have a 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7, V8, 96,000 miles which has started to make a "squeal" sound when I depress the brake. The sound is intermittant and seems to be coming from the front driver side of the car. The Traction Assistant light has come on indicating this feature is off and although this feature (TA) is to go on each time the car is started, it continues to stay off. Can you please tell me what the problem might be?

Optional Information:
1997 Mercury Cougar V8
