i have 1995 mercury Sable 3.0 v6 auto when the outsde temperature reaches 80 degrees or higher the car wil only run for about 20 min. to 1 hr. before it quits running. It coughs and suppters and just plain stops. If you let it sit awhile ,depends on the weather how long you wait, it wil run again for about the same length of time. The engine water temperature does not go up but the srvice engine light comes on just before the motor stops. In the winter it runs fine.

You most likely have an ignition module on its way out.You need to verify if you are loosing spark or fuel pressure.See when the car dies and wont restart if the check engine light comes on with the key in the on position, this means the EEC power relay is ok and check if ti goes out when cranking, this means the pickup coil/stator is sending an rpm signal to the igntion module.TFI(ignition modules) are common failures.
