I have a 95 mercury sable, problem occurred today - no acceleration i.e. less then 5 mph could be achieved. Engine sounded bogged down. I could turn the car on and off, but when stepping on teh gas, the car would make a rattleing sound and would not react to the acceleration. I let the car sit for an hour started it up, first minute very slow acceleration only to about 5 mph, There was a puff of smoke from the exhaust then car kicked in gear and ran normal. I had the trans rebuilt at about 120K. Car has 148k miles. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.
