I have a 1995 Mercury Cougar XR7/V8. I just had the left coil assembly replaced the other day and now the car has a "bucking" motion around 2000-2250 rpms. I am woundering if this may be because of the catalytic converter which is also in question due to very poor gas milage. Thank you for your input on this matter. Mark A.

Nothing, it just started happening the other day. After having the coil assembly replaced.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Although the catalytic converter can cause a smooth loss of power, it can't cause a bucking symptom.

This sounds like it still has an ignition problem. This could be a coil problem, plug wires or even plugs. You first need to determine which cylinders are causing the problem to be able to track it down.
