99 mercury sable with automatic overdrive ...

99 mercury sable with automatic overdrive transmission, runs just fun when shifting into gear nothing happens at all, no change in idle, front wheels off the ground, whells do not turn at all no noises from tansmission at all, switch to any gear no response

1999 Mercury sable 3.0

Already Tried:
checking fluid level, checking cleanliness of fluid, resetting the on board computer

If the fluid level is full then the input shaft is broken or the splines in the torque converter are stripped, etc. In other words, the transmission's gotta come out and be repaired, rebuilt or exchanged.

Doesn't make much difference what's causing it...the end result is the same. You'd have to do a line pressure test to condemn the pump and I'm guessing you don't have a pressure gauge set?

You can pull one of the rubber lines off the radiator and point it in a bucket and watch the amount of flow at idle (until the pan runs out of fluid) and see if it's got a lot of force and flow and if it's minimal then either the filter is plugged up or the pump is gone
