I have a 1995 Mercury Cougar. The last time I started it the ignition key broke internally, the engine was running. I was able to drive it home but I had to pull the high tension wire out of the distributor to stop it and removed the groung wire from the battery to kill the ignition because the key did not work. The dealer has the car and said he had to remove parts of the steering column to remove broken parts. Has the Ford Company had a recall on this problem. I think this is a safety related problem.
