I have a 1999 mercury sable. 3.0 24 valve auto trans. The check engine soon light came on as well as the overdrive off light. The car does not shift properly now. It revs to high before it shifts. What to do.........What to do?

you have a trans code you will need to have someone retreive the codes and and then diagnosis it from there. Most discount auto parts stores will retreive the code at no charge. Just remember that a code tells you what circuit the problem is in not what part is bad. Get these codes and let us know so we can futher help you.

It will be mounted in the trans axle on pass side just inside of where that axle shaft goes into the transaxle.

It is held in with 1 bolt remove bolt and then it will pull out. Just remember the code means there is a fault in that circuit so it can be other things I would inspect the wiring going to the sensor if ok then replace the sensor. If it doesn't fix it then additional diagnosis will be needed.
