we have a MERCURY COUGAR 2000, 2.5 6CYL., we just had the transmission repaired, now the mechanic states that he retrieving an error code entailing the our emissions system, to top it all off, we' re still having the same problem with the car that we had prior to the transmission rebuild.

Reply to Danny's Post: the car would stutter, or miss after topping 45mph, the service manager at Key linclon mercury,(new kensington, pa.), stated that the transmission was flucuating between third and fourht gears, he then went on to state that we would require a transmission rebuild. Well, the same day and since after picking up our car(transmission purportedly rebuilt), we are encountering the same problem. The tranny rebilker, states that he had another service perform the repair, and that he must retrieve the error code from them before, he can reasonably give us an answer... well whats up MC Master Mechanic?
