I have a 98 mercury sable, it has started cutting out after driving approx. 9-15 miles. comes to complete stop with no power, shutting off ignition then turning back on, then off, then starting some times resets and runs fine other times not. Any help in this matter would be appreciated and will get me out of hot water with wife. Thanks John

You need to first test a few functions during the failure.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester.
2) Test for injecter pulse using a small bulb called a noid light.
3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.
Here's what the noid light looks like.
