I have a 1987 Silverado 1/2 ton 4wd (350 block). When I bought it a year ago, the hubs would become super hot in 2WD within approx
six miles of driving. The entire brake system checks out okay. After my wrench (in my presence) pulled the hubs and inspected the "Warn" hub kits, bearings and races, everything was fine. He
repacked them with high temp grease and reinstalled. That whole
assembly was reinstalled properly. The differential is working fine -
i.e. (axle does not turn in 2wd). Yet the hubs continue to overheat.
My mechanic can only scratch his head at this - no idea why. He suggests brass Warn hub kits, yet he installed the hubs that are in
now for the previous owner??????? Why are they overheating still???

Optional Information:
1987 1/2 ton 4wd Silverado 350 block

Already Tried:
Inspection and any necessary repairs to entire brake system. Disassembly and inspection of entire Warn hub kits to include bearings, locks and races, repacked and properly reinstalled. Differential is working properly - i.e. - axle does not turn in 2wd. Yet hubs continue to overheat in 2wd mode.
