I have a 1998 Jag xj8 vanden plas and drove my car until the fuel light came on - I stopped at the gas station to pump about a half tank of gas and drove about 5 miles before the car stalled on me. I tried to restart it but it spit and spattered until it just wouldn't crank anymore. I had a new fuel pump put in about 6 months ago. My mechanic informed me not to run the car with less than a half a tank of gas because the fuel pump is in the gas tank and will not work. What do you think is the problem and is my mechanic correct in his statement about how much gas I should have in the tank. Thank You - Scott - Acworth, GA
