I have previously paid $ 15.00 for a problem that I had with my 94 buick 3.8 park avenue. The professional insisted that the trouble I had , which was that it took several times of starting automobile before it would stay started and that i could be driving the auto and the engine would just stop running,I could then stop the car and restart it and go on sometimes without problem and somestimes with the constant problem of the auto stop running. I accepted his response. I had installed a new AC Delco fuel pump , a filter, and the screen $ 350. Still same problem. He has already put on a new crank sensor and checked computer and ingnition. All check Ok. What next should we try.

Yes the computer was scanned for service codes at the beginning and none are showing. Yes the auto is still at the mechanic.

yes, that is the problem, after doing what I was told the trouble must be, new furel pump etc.,auto still exhibits the same problem, not staying started when cranked and whn it does stay started you can drive it and it will cut off completly at some variale point mileage wise. and then you can start it back go for a distance and it will cut off a gain at some [point.

When it is cutting off and wont start, is he able to check it (right then) for lack of spark or fuel?

sorry for delay, had to contact mechanic. He says that when the auto cuts off after starting, you cannot get any fuel injection by simply putting the shift in neutral and turn key to start, it will not start. You have to turn the ignition to OFF and then turn on and it will start but might cut off again until you get it to stay running and and drive it till it cuts off again.

Faxed your enclosures to mechanic. H e called back and said everything in the info you sent he is aware of and thy all check out. H emphasizes to tell you that he gets no injector pulses when the car cuts off.

The injector pulse is generated from the ignition module, most major parts stores can check these, but once again, if it is not acting up at the time of testing it can fool you.

Made contact with mechanic. He states no they did not replace. However he was not sure what relay you are talking about. Please clarify and with your reply. we will purchase them and try it.

I was refering to the fuel pump relay, if you read the first section that i sent you, it shows how the relay is energized when you turn the key on, if no reference from the engine turning(ignition module or oil pressure) the relay deenergizes. Once if recieves reference signal (from module,pressure switch) the PCM continues to feed the relay power. I have to step away for awhile, but keep me posted.

After reviewing your situation, i think it is best to have the vehicle put on a factory level scanner to obtain "Live" readings of the system. This is a scanner that, it sounds like, your mechanic does not have. This is the only way that you are going to be able to pinpoint the problem.

I have no clue why he isn't able to read the sensor outputs, if he has the scanner on and does a freeze frame capture when it stalls, it will record the information, but it takes a knowledgable person to interpret those readings. this is just too difficult for me to diagnose without running the scan myself, and recommend you might want to have another shop run the scan. Sory, i really wish there was a "quick fix" answer for ya, but this is just one of those intermittent problems that are a bugger to find.
