I recently replaced my car battery that was 7 yrs ...

I recently replaced my car battery that was 7 yrs old. My mechanic said my    old battery was the "wrong   battery".

After I   drove off, the "service lite" lite on my dash went out and other lites that came on from time to time also went out.

I thought a 12 volt battery   would work on different cars. Why not?
