Hey Customer (name blocked for privacy) thanks for the question,
The professional repair information I have shows the engine and transmission removal to be as a unit together.
Naturally the problem would be moving the engine off of the torque converter of the transmission, (automatic) since there is not much space in front of the engine to slide it forward.
I suppose a guy could try taking everything off the front of the motor, belts, sprockets and pullies and see if engine would slide forward far enough to remove, but then again you might spend as much work to do that as it takes just to remove the engine and trans together. Plus, if it does work to remove everything in front of the motor, then you would also have to install everything on the front of the motor, which is always easier when the engine is out, versus doing it when the engine is installed.
Click ACCEPT if this helps, if not let me know, all bonuses and fedback appreciated.
Thanks,
