1992 Mazda 929
Sent to Car Experts August 31 12:46 PM

I inherited a 1992 mazda 929. It is a beautiful car but it has problems. I have not been able to find anyone with real expertise to repair the car. The opinion I have gotten from the repair people I have consulted with is that the car is hard to repair because of the electronics. I there anyone out there, especially in the L A area who works on these cars?

There are good technicians in all areas and that's all you need. The best way to find a good repair shop is through word of mouth. They likely won't be the cheapest but you don't get quality at the discount shops.

Ask your friends and neighbors and when you start to hear the same name on a repeated basis, your chances will be good with that one.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: I have already gone to the local Mazda dealer, and they were worthless. They changed the oil and basically told me that they could not fix the car. I then went to a highly recommended auto electronics shop to find out why the battery was going dead if the car was not used on a daily basis. Three hundred dollars later I had a new battery and the same problem.I have been told that the electronics (computers) in the car cause the problems.

It's not a dealer's practice to turn away work on their own vehicles. Is your modified, run down or patched together?

If they turned it away, they had a reason.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: the car is completely stock, and overall is in nice condition. The dealer told me that they didn't have anyone familiar with mazdas that old. I have since spoken to other mazda dealers and gotten a similar response. they don't want to be bothered with old mazdas especially old 929s. That is why I asked if there was anyone in the LA area who does work on these cars.

That's amazing. I never heard of such behavior. I can't recommend anybody. I'm in south Florida.
