2003 Mazda MPV - brakes make a LOUD screeching sound (followed by a thunk) when braking at low speeds. (rear passenger side). Any ideas?

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: Yes, and it only makes that loud sound when breaking at low speeds. My sister took it in to Brakes Plus, and they can't seem to find anything wrong. Unfortunately, the horrendous noise says that something must be very wrong.

Are these disc or drum brakes in the rear?

Has any work been done recently to the brakes
