i have a 1989 mazda 626 lx and i have a noise that appears ...

i have a 1989 mazda 626 lx and i have a noise that appears to be coming from the driver side axel area.... it is a knocking sound. It doesnt do it when i brake or accelerate only when i am maitaining a rate of speed or if i am driving below 50 can i hear it. Any ideas?
