How do you remove an alternator from a 1995-6 Mazda 626?

How do you remove an alternator from a 1995-6 Mazda 626? Can't move it up and out or down and out... does something else have to be removed to get it out and the new one in place?

Just can't get the thing out! It is disconnected.

There should be 2-4 bolts holding it in. Locate and un screw them.

Yes, I got the bolts undone. What I can't do is remove the thing - it won't manuever past the axel below and the engine parts above! Is there a special way to tilt/move the thing or a certain direction it needs to go so it can be completely removed from the engine? And how is the new one put in place? Is there something that also must be removed to make room. I have the book which refers to chapter 12 on how to do this, yet capter 12 doesn't say anything about it - it is on electrical systems!
