I have a 2000 mazda B3000 2wd auto trans. Recently changed the transmission fluid and filter and when cleaning the pan I noticed several small aluminum?(not magnetic) discs rougly a 1/4" in dia. and 1/16" thick in the pan. What are these and does it indicate a problem. vechicle runs fine except lurches a bit around 55mph

thanks for the answer but as you can see by the picture they are actual machined parts and not chips off a part. Does your answer still apply or are they something different? Sorry for the late reply and possible misinterpertation of your answer I just wanted to be a little clearer on what I was talking about. Thanks

Well either way, if you found it when you drop the transmission fluid and it's sitting on the transmission oil pan, that means it belong to the transmission gear set, or housing, regardless of what shape, or what kind of metal it is. Once you seen any piece of metal inside the transmission bigger than 1/16th is some thing you need to be concerned off.
