i have a 1997 lincoln town car that lacks power at take off ...

i have a 1997 lincoln town car that lacks power at take off and pops or bakfires thru intake, then all the sudden seems to run fine ,this does not happen every time,idle fluctuates once and a while. any ideas?

Ok well those are oxygen sensor codes. Befor you replace the oxygen sensors you will want to chech for vaccum leaks. The first place to check is the intake and around it. You should be able to listen to the motor and see if you have any. It will usually sound like a hissing. If you cant hear any then you can use like carb cleaner and spray around the intake and see if you hear a change in the motor running that will tell you where the leak is. Also you will want to check where the oxygen sensors screw into the exaust. A lot of times it will leak there also. Make sure too that your pcv valve is free. Vaccum leaks are a lot of tomes what give you the oxygen sensor codes. Its that as much as its the oxygen sensors somethimes. Thats what to check first and if there are no leaks I would suggest the O2 sensors themselves

Well, if the cruise doesnt work then maybe thats where your vaccum leak is. That is what the cruise runs off of. Just another thing you might want to check. The only reason I suggested those things to try is because under where it says already tried, you typed in nothing.
