Re-1992 Lincoln Towncar 4.6 ltr engine : oil consumption , only smokes when pulling away from a stop then ,no more smoke . can it be ? EGR or PCV in question
(While I have not run a compression check , it certainly runs great )

These engines are prone to the valve seals leaking. If you can pull the valve covers you can look at the valve seals and sometimes see that they are deteriorated. If they are you will need to replaced all of them in order to make sure the oil stops being burnt in the combustion chamber. You should also check the pcv valve and make sure it is not plugged.
