Sent to Car Experts March 15, 2006 8:21 p.m.

I have a 2001 Lincoln Town car that goes dead while I'm driving. The Lincoln dealership can't find anything with the diagnostic testing. It did this twice within five minutes yesterday and has done this a couple of times in the past couple of months. Please help.

Optional Information:
2001 Lincoln town car v8

Already Tried:
diagnostic test showed no problems, battery ok, fuel injection ok

Thanks for your question.

Do you mean it just shuts off like somebody turning the key off or like it is running out of gas?

Thanks

It's like the key turned it off. There is no sputtering. It just goes dead.

Were they able to get any codes?

Does it start right back up?

Thanks

I would try to replace the EEC relay. This relay is in the power box under the hood on the drivers side. If looking at the box you should have 5 relays to the rh side of the power box. The EEC relay is the 3rd one down. Also check really close all the ground points for looseness and corrosion. Around the fender wells and battery cables.

Thanks
