Temp sensor for computor? Is this a device to save the computor from overheating or getting hot, so it shuts down the car at 60 miles per hour? Are there other sensors that can do this?

I think he is referring to the Engine coolant temperature sensor or more likelt the Intake air temp sensor. This model year(1988) does not use an IAT.Have you had it checked for codes, and the fuel pressure tested? Only odd ball thing would be if it had a problem with the processor or the wiring got chewed up by a rodent. This should not be difficult to figure out.
