Follow the top radiator hose back to the engine and where it ends is the thermostat housing..

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: On a 1997 Lincoln continental you must follow the lower radiator hose and its easily accesible from the bottom of the car on the front passenger side.So the answer you gave was not correct you can't follw the upper radiator hose like you suggested.

I gurantee you on A 1997 lincoln Continental 4.6 its located by following the lower radiator hose to the engine. Because I just changed one myself this morning so your book or information is wrong. I looked at the book at first and I could not locate it so I followed the lower hose and their it was.

Maybe you need to look at that hose again and see if it really is the lower hose because the T-stat for a 4.6 is on top of the engine, it is an OUTLET stat, meaning it has to enter the radiator at the top.

Because I did exactly what you did and looked in the repair manual and it stated that the thermostat was in the upper hose on a 1997 Lincoln Continental and it was not where it was specified to be.
