When I turn key, I get nothing. I tried jumping battery, still nothing. Lights went on so probably not battery. I tried pushing the vehicle to rotate starter. Still nothing. Would tapping starter help? If so, where do I find it?

Optional Information:
1999 Kia Sportage

Already Tried:
Jumping battery and pushing car. Nothing happens when I turn key. Lights go on inside and out with jumper cable

Thanks, engine size doesnt matter quite yet :-)

Try this for me,

Turn the headlights and interior lights on, and while attempting to start it, observe the lights (probably be easiest to look at the dome light during the day) and see if they dim down low or go out when trying to start it...let me know please.

Unfortunately, my car is at work 20 minutes away. I'm getting ready to get a lift there now. When this happened, it was dark and I couldn't see. Was hoping to have an idea of what I should try when I get there now.

If lights dim down or go low, what does that tell me. Problem was, even with jumping battery, when I turned the key, there was no engine noise. Just silence.
