Type your Car question here   Our 2000 jaguar s-type is parked on our slightly sloped driveway with the left rear wheel partially on the curb and partially on the sidewalk. It was driving fine a few moments ago and now when we get back in it and turn on the car
it is stuck in park. My son says this is some kind of safety feature - is that true? and how do we unstick it?

the gear shift is not located on the steering wheel, it is located on the console between the
seats. It will move a little bit, but it won't
go into any gear...

Just out of curiosity,have you tried pumping the brake to release the shift interlock?

yes, we've been pumping the brakes, trying to move
the gear shifter, turning the car on and off, seat-belt buckled and unbuckled and still nothing.
