My '89 Isuzu pickup, 2.3 liter, 5 speed manual, 2

My '89 Isuzu pickup, 2.3 liter, 5 speed manual, 2 wheel drive, is drinking too much gas! I have rebuilt the carburetor to solve the problem of it dumping too much gas while I'm at a stop; the rebuild worked okay for that, but now, when I go around a right corner, the engine sputters like the spark plugs are being overwhelmed by fuel. Left turn is okay; it runs like a Banshee. But, all in all, I'm getting between 14 and 16 miles per gallon, and mmost of those miles are highway. I drive about 30 miles each way to and from work, and it's costing me about $10 a day in gas. It's killing me!!! Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

It has 219,000 miles on it and drives like it could go for another 100,000. Any idea on the actual expected fuel economy for this vehicle?

Thanks,

Jeff
