If the check engine light is on, the codes stored by the engine
control computer need to be retrieved. This will allow diagnosis to
determine the reason the light is on. The codes can be retrieved for
free by auto parts stores like Autozone, but you may have to visit a
repair shop since Autozone will not be able to properly troubleshoot.
It is possibly related to the gas you put in, but since there was a
burning smell, make sure that there are no problems underhood. Inspect
for damage to rubber tubing and wiring. Look at the exhaust pipe to see
if any fluids are dripping on it or any hoses and wires rubbing it.
