vehicle will not start

my vehicle is a 93 GMC Seirra V6. Recently the truck won’t start. When the key is turned to the on position, sometimes the dash lights come on full brightness and sometimes they are very dim. When they are bright, I can turn the key to the start position and the starter will make a loud clack noise -but not turn. When the dash lights are dim, turning the key to the start position does nothing at all. It was suggested that I change the ignition switch - and that changed nothing. Where would you start - help me please thanks

You havwe a bad connection that could be anywhere between the battery and the ignition switch and it could be either ground or power. Start at the battery and check the battery terminal and all small leads attached to the battery. Them start following the power and ground in all contacts. that includes all the fusable links and body grounds and the bulkhead connecter.
