where is the turn signal flasher located on my 1996 gmc jimmy ...

where is the turn signal flasher located on my 1996 gmc jimmy. I have heard it is hard to get to and may be buried behind the lower dash under the radio. before i tear everthing apart, is this correct ?? I will not pay for the answer
