Question I have 1999 GMC Jimmy with only 60,000

Sent to Car Experts January 15 10:16 AM

Question
I have 1999 GMC Jimmy with only 60,000 miles on it. My turn signal continuely clicks while I am driving. It stops clicking went I press the brakes. I was told that it could be the turn signal assembley on the steering wheel that bad. What do you think? and how much should this problem cost me? I changed a burnt out taillight and that day when the blinker was turned on it had a fast clicking once or twice when the signal was used and then went back to normal. I didn't think anything of it and a day or 2 later the very frequent clicking when the signal is not on started. I read a rticle that stated to pull up on the brake when it was clicking but that made no difference...
PLEASE HELP,
Thank You.
Help please...
Thanks,

Most of the time it's a bad multifunction switch(turn signal switch)and is probably true in your case. You will save a wad of cash doing this yourself. www.rock.auto.com has them for $106 which is cheap. If you go to the dealer the part will likely be over $400 plus about 1 and 1/2 hours labor times your local rates. They are not that hard to change if you have the tools.Maybe you could find a smaller shop that would install your part you bring in.If this has helped you please click on my accept button. If it has helped you very much you may leave a bonus if you wish to do so.

What about changing this signal switch with the airbag system? Is it dangerous?

This is to Assist diablo666.

Once you remove the positive battery cable from the battery ( which you should do any time you work on the electrical system) it shouldn't pose a hazard.

If more information is needed, please ask me.

Hope this helps, an accept would be appreciated.
