Question

sonoma heater blower

Sent to Car Experts July 23, 2005 12:30 p.m.

Hi, I have a 1995 gmc sonoma w/o ac. The heater blower
fuse has no power to the hot side with ignition on. Blower works fine when the load side of the fuse is jumped directly to the battery. Could this be an ignition switch problem?

Yes it could be the switch but you should check the power distribution fuses under the hood and see if the fusible links at the starter are OK first.

Where would the power distribution fuses be located?

There is a black plastic box under the hood it usually says power distribution center on it.It has the big maxie fuses and the relays in it.

Thanks Marc,I hope it's as simple as that. I
assume the fusable links are right by the starter.
Also if everything checks out ok, should I suspect
the ignition switch?

The fusible links if your truck has any will be on the large stud of the starter (positive stud where the battery cable connects).

If all the circuit protection is good yes suspect the Ign. switch, Use a 12 volt test light to check it you will have one or more dead leads in the on position Power that lead up and the blower should work.
