Both my front end window motors went but not together.
Sent to Car Experts July 24 07:35 PM

Both my front end window motors went but not together. I have a 96 Buick Century I purchsed 2 motors from a junk yard but I need some step by step instuctions on how to replace them I have no idea where inside the door it is even located And where to start, I have loosend up the door panel from their snap slots but I cannot seem to be able to loosen the seat belt top holder the nut just wants to turn and turn but nothing comes loose. I am 73 solely on Soc Sec a woman to boot, but I love doing the minor things on my car like relacing filters, changing oil, replacing a antifreeze bottle that leaked, converted a antenna on my car when a kid broke it off I just to save money replaced a motorizes antenna with a stationary one, have removed some dents with a hairdryer and co2 spray. But I honestly need some help with the motors all I have are the motors not anything else that may have to hooked up to them.I figured I would use the old parts. Urgently awaiting your answer

I apologize if I am to forward, as I do not know what you are capable of doing. This is No easy job, & is somewhat strenuous:
Replacement of Power Window Motors in this car will require a Drill, Punch, Hammer, Large GM type Rivet Gun or small Bolts, sweat & ingenuity.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Remove the door trim panel and inner panel water deflector.

  2. Raise the window to the full up position and tape the glass to the door frame using cloth-backed tape. (Duct Tape)

  3. If the Window will not Raise, you will have to Tape in position where it is, and when you get the Regulator Loose, move the Window by hand.

  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  5. Remove the lower sash bolts.

  6. Punch out the center pins of the regulator rivet. Drill out rivets using 1/4 in. (6mm) drill bit.

  7. Move regulator and motor assembly rearward, then remove the electrical connector.

  8. With the regulator in the door, drill out the regulator-to-motor rivets using a 1/6 in. (4mm) drill bit, then remove the motor.

To install:

  1. Install and connect the window motor.

  2. Use 3/16 in. (5mm) rivets or 3/16 in. (5mm) nuts and bolts to install the motor to the regulator.

  3. Connect the electrical wiring, then install the regulator and door inner panel using a 1/4 in. (6mm) rivets.

  4. Install the lower sash bolts, tighten to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).

  5. Install the water deflector and remove the tape from the window.

  6. Connect the negative battery cable, reset the clock and radio.

Thank you I am a tool freak Lurch and not afraid to attempt anything. I realized this was a big job ahead for me, but also a challenge.
Your instructions are just great If you like I will let you know when I finish and just how long it took me. I have put brakes and calipers on a ford Van a new gas tank and also a clutch on a b-310 Datsun and repaired my furnace and replaced the guts on my hot water tank so you see I am not afraid to tackle anything. And I have all the Mechanic Tools ever needed. Thank you ever so much.I have the Haynes Manual but their directions assumed to much for my noggin.
