Hello,

If you are sure this has a Quad 4, then it should be a 1996 because all listings for a 1995 is a 2.3L. So if it is a 2.4L, let's move on. Just don't want to mix up my info to you. You can have a shorted or open ignition switch. Here is the test.

1. Check for power, red and pink, and ground, black, to the ignition module when cranking.

2. If the power wire is below 9.5 volts, check voltage in and out of the ignition switch when in the crank position.

3. If there is good power in on the Red wires but low out on the Pink wire, replace the ignition switch.

If tests show good, you either have a bad crank sensor or module. But ignition switches are common for failures creating no spark on crank. Let me know.

Hello,

Did you check voltages to the ignition module while cranking. It is the part that you have to unplug to remove the spark plug cover. It is important voltage is here. If no or low voltage, it will give you no spark and fuel while cranking. The ignition switch maybe shorted causing the quick spark when you turn the key to on. But knowing the voltages on crank will lead us where to go from there. Let me know.

Hello,

Can't do phone calls. Sorry. But we can figure this out soon. Just hang in there. There is a data link connector under the dash on the driver side. As you can see in the picture, I want you to use a jumper wire and connect pins A and B. Turn key to on position and watch for the check engine light to flash. It will be a 2 digit code. There will be a pause between digits. Just watch to see if more codes appear after the first code.

Hello,

So it is definatly a ground problem. Just need to make sure that a new ground is added to each ground wire. If you cut the wires and didn't add the ground to the ground wires going away from the computer, you have other outputs that need ground too that are still getting a voltage drop. Use a good splice with solder and heat shrink if possible to make the best connection from a good ground to the ground wires. Check for the voltage drop again key on with computer plugged in and unplugged. Let me know what the readings are now. Then try codes again. We may need to to a voltage drop on the power and ignition power wires as well. But lets get the ground verified. Now on the ground, if no voltage drop is present when unplugged but there is a voltage drop plugged in with key on, the micro processor is creating the drop in the computer and will have to be returned for an exchange. Rememner any thing above 0.500 volts is bad. Had same problem once. I have class tomorrow too. Asked my instructor about your car and he agrees with how we are approaching this. Glad to see some results. Let me know.
