If the theft light is flashing then it is a good chance that the sensor in the ignition switch is bad. We have replaced these sensor and have had them come back in less than a year later for the same concern. Apparently GM is having problems with them. When we talked to the GM dealer they knew exactly what we were talking about. We have gone as far as replacing the harness and it still lasted less than a year.
