Question

My neighbor was checking the fuel injection system to ...

Sent to Car Experts October 02, 2006 4:09 p.m.

My neighbor was checking the fuel injection system to see if it was clogged. He removed one of the injector wires and hooked his diagnostic machine up to it. When he tried to crank it, the car tries to start (but doesn't appear to fire). It is a 1998 Buick Le
Sabre and he thinks maybe it has something to do with the GM security system. He is at a loss for what could possibly be wrong - since the car would start when he drove it next door to his house. What should he be checking for at this point? Is there any way to check the security system? He had the key's microchip checked by a Buick dealer and they told him the key was fine.

Optional Information:
1998 Buick LeSabre V6

Already Tried:
He has tested the key's microchip and not much else.

Is the security light on or flashing when you try to start it?

According to my mechanic, the security system has checked out okay.

The security system was his first thought since everything else appeared to be okay. He was grasping at straws. The reason he thought this may be the case is that he tried to start the car from under the hood vs. at the ignition. He is trying everything he can since the car WOULD crank before he did anything to it.

Hi Hammer Time. Just wanted to let you know it was a fuse in the fuse panel under the passenger's side of the dash. My friend was unaware the '98 Buick LeSabre had 3 fuse panels.
