Is there a different water pump for a 3800 GM engine versus a turbo charged 3800 GM engine? (1998 Bonneville)

 

Optional Information:
1998 Pontiac Bonneville 3800

Already Tried:
rebuilt the engine because of overheating on cylinders 5 and 6

The water pump is the same for the 3.8 L Supercharged and 3.8L motors. The only difference is the computer, induction manuifold, accessory pulley arangement and serpentine belts. Also there is differences in the electrical harness.

Reply to RIP's Post: Mine looks like the impeller is reversed, could it be from some other engine? The engine is a Jasper rebuilt.

If the impeller is not identical to the one that came off your original engine, this is a concern. Call Jasper help hotline and ask if there might have been changes made to their rebuilt engine that would require the water pumps impeller to be reversed, which is not likely; but before that I would go to a few different part sources and have them pull the water pump for your application. If the impellers are all the same, this may be correct. A reversed impellor can cause a immediate overheating condition and is common to aftermarket water pumps because often they are boxed incorrectly.
