i think the egr valve on my 97 tracker is on its ...

i think the egr valve on my 97 tracker is on its way out, it has over 200k kms. when driving the engine seems like its starving for fuel and starts to jerk and loose rpm's. i tried connecting it for a diagnosis but the computer wont read it therefore im not really sure what it is. i tried injector cleaner and been running it on high octane but nothing seems to help.
