How can I open the hood on a 97 Geo Prizm if yhe hood latch ...

How can I open the hood on a 97 Geo Prizm if yhe hood latch cable is gone? The grill is off, so I can see the latch.

If you can see the latch clearly, you should be able to easily open it. The release cable, joins the latch at a pivoting arm which determines whether the latch is locked or unlocked. If the cable is completely missing you should still be able to find the arm and pull it outward with a small flat-tip screwdriver. If the cable is still there, you should be able to follow it to the connection point. If you can't see behind the latch, a small automotive telescopic mirror can help. Reply to RIP's Post: the answer didn't help, it just cost me another 6.34 fo a telescopic mirror I was unable to get the mirror behind the latch to see anything because the latch housing is bolted to the sub-frame. I ended up disconnecting the entire latch housing in order to open the hood. I'm sorry to say that you weren't any help, so I would like a refund of my $9.00.
