What is most common with 1997 Chevy Geo Metro power supply voltage is shorted to the Heater blower motor and air conditioner compressor, is it a relay or swicth? The flat visual fuses under driverside dash and leftside hood are good but how do you resistance check the four prong relays or is there some other component that controls voltage to both blower and compressor?

Optional Information:
1997 Chevrolet Geo 1.0

Already Tried:
Visual check of flat 10a-30a fuses both under dash and under left side of hood found bad dome lite fuse not related to componets of concern which is idenifing relay or switch that may control voltage to both heater blower and air conditioner compressor!

hello!

If youa re experiencing problems with both the blower motor circuit and the compressor control circuits, you either have 2 separate issues, a short in a harness someplace between the 2 circuits, or the fault is in the heater control . These circuits do not seem to share any common electrical wiring.

Here is the wiring diagram for the 2 systems; you might find it useful in troubleshooting the problem:

Hmmm;

your question as stated originally seemed to be is there a relay or switch that controls power to both the compressor and the blower circuits. My answer is that there is not a switch that controls both, but that the circuits come together at the HVAC control head, and I suggested you start looking there. If that is not the source, the most likely fault is a harness short circuit.

I thought that answered your original question, as you posted it.

If you are asking where the problem is in the vehicle, of course not having the vehicle present to disassemble and check in person that is not a very realistic thing to be asking...

If you wish to find the source of the power feeding into the 2 circuits, you will need to take the wiring diagram, and follow it, disconnecting components one at a time untill you locate the point where power is veing bled into the circuit when it is shut off. There realli IS no other way to isolate the point of an electrical short.

you asked if it was a relay, the answer is no, it is not a relay. As I stated in my original response, there is no one relay that controls both circuits.

Reply to Steve7654's Post: Steve the wiring harness is virgin,no obvious signs of chaffing,melting or exposed copper wire. Three electric motors blower,A/C and radiator not operating the air conditioner compressor may have a separate issue like low on R-134a I will check that after solving the electic motor power supply problem.I will do some more resistance checking, one thing you have not mentioned is the posibility of a bad ground! Or you say nay like the relay what ever it is my money says its common for this year,make,and model! Thank you for trying to help but shall seek advice elsewhere!
