I have given my g reg polo to a family member, who has had a new clutch kit in. Since he''s had it, he can only go upto 4th gear, despite showing 5 gears on gear stick and me and my partner previously driving in 5th gear (and i remember this as it took a while getting used to 5th gear after only having 4, and i remember my husband telling me to use my 5th rather than staying in 4th.) It had a new gear box at least 1.5 years ago and had a new part of clutch a year ago. Since then it''s not really had anything done and i''ve driven all over, using 5th. I can''t understand how there is no 5th gear. Does anyone know if it could be a problem caused by new clutch kit being put in? The garage i have always used insit it is 4 gear (i know different!)Could they have done anything to make it 4. It can''t be right as it sounds like it is being thrashed in 4th gear at 60mph.
