95 lincoln mark 8,transmission shutters shifting from 2nd to 3rd. intermittently.also sometimes 3rd to 4th. feels like going over railroad tracks.sometimes it won't happen for days.73,000 miles.2nd owner since 97.

Reply to Tech501's Post: I replaced the wires last year. I've been working on cars for 35 yrs .I know the difference between an engine and tran's problem.I looked through the maintainance manuals at the library and i'm suspecting one of the sensors .I probably need a trans specialist.                  & nbsp;

 You may be right about the trans. What I was pointing out is the unusual way a bad wire shows itself on those Fords. I usually can't get them to break down by forcing a load on them but they stumble at the higher gear shift points. There really aren't any sensors that can have that kind of effect on a trans shift.
