Transmission Code
Sent to Car Experts April 06 03:04 PM

The transmission in my 2001 chevy blazer recently went out. There is no reverse and you have to let off the gas and then ease back on to shift into the next gear. It is an automatic 4x4. We recently found a transmission for it and my husband intends to put it in but has found out that if you disconnect the battery it will mess up teh radio. We’re trying to find the code we need so that he can install the transmission. Do you know where we can find this? Thanks, Leiann

The dealer will recode it for a fee but I think you can avoid this from happening. They sell a little tool that plugs into the cigarette lighter and has a 9volt battery that keeps all the memories alive before you disconnect the battery. It's designed to save the radio preset stations but it should also save your lock code from actrivating. You should be able to find it at most auto parts stores.

Reply to Tech501's Post: Thanks but is there a special name for the tool or do I just ask for a memory tool? Leiann
